Feed AI a broken process & you’ll only drive broken results

Hi Reader-

Most startup founders get this backwards.

Throwing ChatGPT at a broken workflow just gives you faster broken results.

They think AI will magically fix the chaos in their marketing. But throwing ChatGPT at a broken workflow just gives you faster broken results.

Here's what actually works: The ACT Method, a 3-step framework I've designed to help startups automate their biggest marketing bottlenecks without losing their brand voice or strategic edge.

Here's how it goes:

Step 1: Anchor (aka: Pick the Right Battle)

Don't automate everything. Automate the right thing.

Real Example: A B2B founder was having his junior level team member spend 15 hours/week manually creating thought leadership content. Every. Single. Week. Then he'd have to spend 2 hours/week checking and fixing it ;)

Instead of automating random tasks, we started by anchoring on this specific workflow because it was:

  • High-impact (driving 40% of their inbound leads)
  • Repeatable (same format, different insights)
  • Time-consuming (eating up bandwidth)

Next, we chose the most appropriate from the following AI marketing modalities:

  • AI Agent (for complex, multi-step tasks like content creation)
  • Prompt-Coded Tool (for portable apps like YouTube-to-Blog pipelines)
  • Multi-Step Workflow (for linear processes like lead nurture)

Step 2: Construct (ie; Build Your Growth Engine)

This is where your brand DNA gets encoded into systems that run without you.

Same B2B Startup Example: We built an AI agent using Claude + Airtable that:

  • Pulls from their internal case studies and positioning docs
  • Generates on-brand LinkedIn posts in their exact voice
  • Includes relevant data points and client examples
  • Maintains their technical, no-fluff communication style

As far as what tools to use for this, you could choose from any in the following stack:

  • LLMs (Claude/GPT) for intelligent decision-making
  • Context Storage (Airtable/Notion) for brand voice and data
  • Automation Tools (n8n/Zapier) for workflow orchestration
  • Output Channels (LinkedIn/WordPress/HubSpot) for distribution

Step 3: Test (Make It Bulletproof)

Automation without guardrails is a disaster waiting to happen.

The Reality Check: That same founder's AI agent initially produced content that was technically correct but missed the needed emotional nuance.

My solution:

  • Human approval checkpoints while developing and definitely before publishing
  • Output quality checklists (brand voice, technical accuracy, CTA inclusion)
  • Fallback protocols when tools fail
  • Performance tracking to continuously improve

The result? They decreased content development time by 8x and the founder spent < 1 hour/week on approvals, all while increasing engagement by 43% and generating 3.5x more qualified leads.

Why This Matters for Your Startup

Every hour you spend on repetitive marketing tasks is an hour not spent on product development, fundraising, or strategic partnerships.

The ACT Method saves time while guiding the build of predictable, scalable marketing systems that work whether you're in the office or on vacation.

Your Next Step

Look at your marketing calendar this week. What's eating up the most founder time that follows a repeatable pattern?

That's your Anchor point.

P.S. The most successful founders I work with don't try to automate everything at once. Together we pick one high-impact workflow, perfect the system, then scale from there. Start with your biggest bottleneck.
